Volunteer

The Ogden Nature Center has volunteer opportunities for all ages and abilities.  Whether teaching a group of fourth graders about pond ecology or maintaining one of our many trails or gardens, over 600 people volunteer at the Ogden Nature Center annually.

Volunteers range in age from 6-94!  Opportunities include helping with bulk mailings, special events, education, facilities repair and much, much more!

There are also opportunities for group efforts.

To become a volunteer, simply fill out the Volunteer Application Form and attend a Volunteer Orientation Meeting -- held every Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Volunteer Room. The orientation will introduce you to the Ogden Nature Center and the many ways you can help. We'll also find a good fit for your talents, interests and schedule. Please note that young volunteers must be accompanied by an adult. If you want to schedule a group volunteer effort, please call 621-7595 or fill out the appropriate information for Group Volunteering on the form.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Gardening / Weeding

Help maintain our water-wise demonstration gardens by adopting-a-spot or help control noxious weeds throughout the grounds.  Call Jenny at 801-621-7595 or just show up with your gloves.

Education Volunteers

Help our teacher/naturalists conduct environmental education programs and camps for school-aged children. Lead groups, tell stories, teach fundamental science and more. Training will be provided at the beginning of each month. All you need is a love of the outdoors, children, and willingness to help in all weather conditions.

Ogden Area Garden Tour Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to serve as hosts during this year's garden tour on Saturday, June 26.  If you host a garden, you will receive a free ticket to see all eight of the gardens on the tour.  This is a fun and easy job that will get you excited about gardens!    Choose morning or afternoon shifts.  Please call Jenny Frame at 801-621-7595 if you are interested in helping with this year's garden tour.

Volunteer Application

SUBMIT THE ONC VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM.

Did You Know?

Cedar waxwings in the U.S. used to only have yellow tail tips. But in the 1960s, waxwings with orange tail tips appeared! Why? The new coloring resulted from ingesting red pigment from the berries of a newly introduced species of honeysuckle.
