Anemone Burkey
Anemone has always had a fascination with animals and nature. That love and interest in flora and fauna prompted her to abandon the quest for a degree in Astrophysics in her Junior year, graduating instead with a Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology from Weber State University (WSU) in 2026. Before joining the Ogden Nature Center as an AmeriCorp intern, she worked as the Collections Specialist for WSU’s Zoology Department. There she helped to organize, to catalogue, and to accession animal artifacts in the mammal collection. She also assisted in animal care for a wide variety of cute critters including geckos, a salamander, an axolotl, various fish, a turtle, a tarantula and a ball python. Anemone is passionate about wildlife biology and loves to help people form connections with the enchanting natural world around them. In her free time, Anemone enjoys creating stamps, watercoloring, making fish out of tiny beads, astronomy, learning about paleoecology, and collecting stamps from as many national parks as possible!
