WEBER SCHOOL DISTRICT: Use code WSF24 to cover the cost of your field trip. Weber School Foundation covers all field trip fees but you must apply to the foundation for approval once you have booked a field trip date with us.
OGDEN SCHOOL DISTRICT: Use code OSF24 to cover the cost of your field trip. All field trip costs are covered by Ogden School Foundation.
All 1st Grade classes are free under our iSEE grant. Use code ISEE24.
ONC Education Policies
The following policies will be enforced without exception. Failure to comply with the following policies will be noted and may lead to restriction from future field trip attendance.
- No siblings are allowed to attend with chaperones. This includes infants in arms. Parents who bring siblings will be asked to remove themselves from the field trip and can either remain at the nature center in any space away from the field trip or they may return home. Teachers are held responsible for communicating this policy to chaperones and will be held accountable if this policy is not followed.
- A maximum of 6 chaperones is allowed for each class attending our field trips. This does not include teachers and teacher/student aids who are allowed free under all circumstances. Additional chaperones MUST be approved by the education director and must pay our $6 entrance fee. If additional chaperones were not approved ahead of time, they will be asked to pay an additional $10 per chaperone.
- If you are eating lunch before or after your field trip, all trash must be bagged and packed out by the school. Trash bags will not be provided by the nature center. Any trash left behind will be charged a $15/bag fine.
- No shows and cancellations will not be refunded unless under extenuating circumstances (i.e. busing issues, unanticipated school closings, etc.)
- You are expected to be on time for your field trip. If you are more than 30 minutes late, we will not be able to facilitate our field trip activities as planned and an alternative option will be provided to you.
Teacher Notes
- All programs correlate to the Utah State SEEd standards. Field adventures at the Ogden Nature Center are designed for K – 8th grade students, and focus on hands-on, outdoor experiences.
- All classes are taught by professional teacher/naturalists educated in conservation biology, botany, ornithology, child development, environmental education, interpretation, and more.
- Classes are taught 100% outside. Please dress for the weather.
- Programs last for two hours and can be scheduled for the mornings or afternoons.
- Picnic tables are available for lunch use before or after your field trip. Please RSVP for picnic table use when registering your classroom. Please plan to pack out all of your trash.
- You are welcome to extend your field trip with self-guided exploration of the nature preserve or by allowing students time to play at Peery's Nature Nook Playscape at no extra cost.
- Each field trip has pre-visit and post-visit curriculum and activities. Print out and use those activities that are appropriate for your grade level.
- If this does not fit your schedule or programs are booked for the days you would like to attend, please contact 801-621-7595 for our self-guided classroom options.
- Our programs are designed to follow the seasons. We offer programming that encourages students to investigate nature around them. Thanks to the Powell Foundation, all Ogden City Schools will take home a journal to continue their nature and science investigations at home after their field trip.
- If you're looking for programming for an individual student, whether adult or child, check out our calendar to see what our community education programs have to offer.
