Join the Ogden Nature Center for a Kneehigh Naturalist class! Explore wildlife and nature through games, crafts, stories and live animal introductions that are age appropriate. This hour-long program is designed for preschoolers 3-5 years of age and their adult chaperones.

Spring Semester
Join us each month as we explore a new nature theme designed especially for preschoolers!
Big or small, furry or scaly, wings or legs, animals come in all shapes and sizes. This semester we will learn all about animal groups including mammals, birds, reptiles, and invertebrates. Each class, we will explore what makes each animal group unique. Together we will explore nature, play games, make crafts, and enjoy spending time outdoors as we learn all about our animal friends.

February 10 and 11: Marvelous Mammals What makes mammals different from other animals? Explore soft fur, strange feet, and become an animal detective as we look for wildlife around the nature center
March 10 and 11: Fun Feathered Friends Learn what makes a bird a bird by observing wings, beaks, feathers, and feet. Together we will listen for birds songs, learn new stories, and even meet our bird ambassadors.
April 7 and 8: Skin, Scales, and Reptile Tails They’re scaly but not scary. Together we will learn about the world of reptiles. We will meet reptiles up close, learn about their adaptations, and create our own reptile friend to take home.
May 5 and 6: Bizzy, Buzzy, Bugs Buzz and crawl your way around the nature center as you learn about the wonderful world of bugs. Together we will search for insects and other critters, see bugs up close, create our own wings, and hear buggy stories.
Cost
- Ogden Nature Center Members - $10 per child/parent
- Nonmembers - $12 per child/parent
- Groups (over 5 students) - $8 per child/parent
Classes for preschool groups (over 5 students) may be scheduled during the regular preschool time slots. The maximum number of students in one session is 30. Pre-registration is required! Call 801-621-7595. General admission fees will apply to any additional family members in attendance. A non-refundable deposit of 50% must be paid in advance to pre-register groups of 5 children or more.
Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the program to ensure a prompt start.
The intention of this program is to guide guardians and their children through activities to promote not only learning but also bonding. For this reason, a 1:1 ratio of adults to students is highly encouraged for this program to ensure that your children receive the best experience. If you have more than one student attending, please plan to bring an additional adult or sibling 13 years or older.
Sibling Policy: Siblings under 2 and babies in arms are free. Siblings will not participate in the activities or class as the class is aimed at the specific age group of 3-5 and supplies for activities are limited. Due to space limitations, we restrict the amount of additional, non-participating siblings to 1 per registration. Siblings 13 years or older may attend as a guardian if providing support to a student.
