Miscellaneous Information

Kathrin was born and raised in Utah. Her family came to Utah with the pioneers and settled many parts of the West. Utah has a special place in her heart. She and her family started volunteering as small animal feeders at the Ogden Nature Center in 2014. She worked her way up to feeding the larger birds. She was able to assist with handling the birds at outreach programs. Kathrin was hired on as staff in August 2022 and works in the Visitor Center greeting guests.

Kathrin received many certificates from the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College, which include Data Entry, Office Administration, Medical Assistance Office and Clinical. She had the opportunity to work with many medical providers over the years. She obtained her Surgical Tech Certificate and worked at many medical facilities. She was also able to study for EMT at Weber State University. After many years spent in the hectic life in the medical field, she decided to take some time with her family. She enjoys crafting with her son and daughter. She helps her husband do many projects around the house. She has a tiny zoo at her house that keeps her busy. In her spare time she enjoys sewing, fixing old sewing machines, and cooking.

Meet Our Animal Ambassadors

The Ogden Nature Center is home to over 20 Utah-native, non-releasable birds of prey and other animals such as snakes, salamanders, rabbits, and tortoises. These animals have been permanently injured or imprinted, and can no longer survive on their own in the wild. Today they serve as animal ambassadors at the Ogden Nature Center, helping teach our community about wildlife, ecosystems, and the importance of habitat.
