The Ogden Nature Center has volunteer opportunities for all ages and abilities. Whether teaching a group of fourth graders about pond ecology or maintaining one of our many trails or gardens, over 1,000 people volunteer at the Ogden Nature Center annually.

Volunteers range in age from 6-94 and there are plenty of opportunities for you!

Volunteer Positions

How Do I Become A Volunteer?

All volunteers start by attending a Volunteer Orientation which will introduce you to the Ogden Nature Center and the many ways you can help. We’ll also find a good fit for your talents, interests, and schedule. You can complete orientation either online or in person. Please note that young volunteers must be accompanied by an adult.

To complete volunteer orientation online:

1. Fill out the Volunteer Application Form

2. Review the Volunteer Handbook

3. Watch the Volunteer Orientation Video

4. Take a short quiz 

5. After you have completed orientation you will be sent an invitation to complete a background check. When your background check is clear and paperwork is complete, you will be eligible to volunteer!

Weber State Students

Welcome WSU students. We bleed both green and purple! If you would like to complete hours required for classes or service clubs, we have several opportunities for you and/or your group.  To make arrangements to volunteer, please contact our volunteer coordinator at .

Group Volunteering

The Ogden Nature Center has a variety of opportunities for companies and groups to volunteer. These projects are perfect for team-building, while making a difference in your community. School or Court-ordered Community Service

The Ogden Nature Center offers opportunities for those needing school or court-ordered community service hours. We do NOT accept anyone for community service who has committed any type of felony, violent crimes or crimes against minors, prostitution, any offense against a family or sexual offense or a felony offense of wildlife laws. Any other violations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Find out more about community service.

Eagle Scout Projects

The Ogden Nature Center has a number of projects available to scouts looking to complete an Eagle Scout Project. From planting trees to building new signage, the Ogden Nature Center welcomes Eagle Scouts to complete projects. If you're interested in doing a project, please complete this form.


Serve, learn and have fun with a unique program designed to get teens into the field this summer. Participate in citizen science, habitat restoration, and other projects, all while making friends and giving back to the community. Guest speakers and leadership opportunities round out the summer. Teens work on and off-site with our staff, in a friendly, supervised environment. The 2020 program begins June 2nd and ends August 6th. Participants meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 12pm.
